Marziye.jafariyazani@nasa.gov, Mjafari@seti.orgI am a Data Scientist for NASA’s TESS Mission at the SETI Institute, where I am part of the Science Processing Operations Center (SPOC) for the TESS mission at NASA’s Ames Research Center. Before shifting my focus to our own galaxy and diving into stellar time-series data to help discover Earth’s cousins, I spent nearly nine years studying distant galaxies, some of which involved the use of machine learning algorithms.
I obtained my PhD from the University of California, Riverside, and conducted two years of thesis work at the Carnegie Observatories as a Graduate Student Fellow, after which I moved to IPAC/Caltech for my postdoctoral research.
I am also deeply interested in and committed to science education, communication, and public outreach. Over the years, I have been involved in and have led numerous activities aimed at making science more accessible and engaging for the public. Whether through mentoring K-12 students, organizing outreach events, or delivering public talks, I am passionate about sharing the wonders of the universe in ways that resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.
