jack@realtimeradio.co.ukJack is a freelance digital signal processing consultant, based in London, UK. He specializes in signal processing backends based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. Prior to working as a consultant, Jack has held positions as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge and UC Berkeley, where he worked on instrumentation for a variety of telescopes and evangelized about the benefits of open-source signal processing tools as a member of the Collaboration for Astronomy Signal Processing and Electronics Research (CASPER).
Jack supports the SETI Institute's work on the Allen Telescope Array, and is leading development of the "COSMIC" interface, which will provide the ability to run full-time SETI observations using the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's Very Large Array.
