Malliouhana unveiled “The Sea & Stars Adventure,” a unique celestial experience that will kick off with special events from November 8-9, 2024, as part of the resort’s 40th Anniversary Season of Celebration.

The program offers a blend of luxury hospitality and engaging astronomy activities, making it an exceptional addition to the array of events celebrating the resort’s legacy. This ongoing Malliouhana experience is designed to deepen the connection between the island’s community and the wonders of space, offering guests and visitors a unique blend of local culture and the latest in space exploration.

In collaboration with the SETI Institute and Unistellar, The Sea & Stars Adventure invites guests to explore the wonders of the universe in one of the World’s premier stargazing locations. This initiative connects Anguilla’s rich history to the marvels of space and enhances the guest experience with a range of educational and interactive activities based on space exploration.

The Sea & Stars Adventure Team
In this unique collaboration, a distinguished team of experts has curated an experience that connects Anguilla’s rich history with the future of space exploration. Designed to inspire a new generation of space enthusiasts, the unique travel experience combines Malliouhana’s luxury accommodations with cutting-edge space science. The initiative provides an innovative perspective on exploring space, from sea level to the stars, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of our universe.

The November 8-9 kick-off event features an impressive lineup of experts, innovators and educators. In addition to stargazing experiences at Malliouhana, the kick-off includes student education across the island with interactive and engaging presentations at local high schools.

“We’re thrilled to bring this extraordinary experience to Malliouhana and Anguilla,” said Logan Miller, Malliouhana’s Managing Director. “‘The Sea & Stars Adventure’ offers our guests a chance to explore the cosmos and celebrates Anguilla’s rich maritime history and connection to the stars. It’s fascinating how the Indigenous people who first settled Anguilla around 1300 BC found this beautiful island, and that tie continues with sailing being Anguilla’s national sport today.”

The Sea & Stars Adventure will include:

  • Educational Outreach: Local schools will host interactive discussions on topics like space technology, STEM careers, and planetary science.
  • Public Stargazing Events: Starting November 8 and 9 at 5 PM, Malliouhana will host public events at Leon’s at Meads Bay. These events will feature interactive discussions and stargazing sessions using Unistellar’s advanced ODYSSEY telescope.
  • Celestial Navigation: Participants will learn how early travelers used the stars to navigate to Anguilla, tying into the island’s sailing heritage.
  • Hands-on Experiences: Guests will examine moon rocks and meteorites and learn about the latest NASA missions and technology.
  • The Sea & Stars at Malliouhana: The Unistellar ODYSSEY telescope will become a fixture at Malliouhana, allowing for ongoing stargazing experiences.

The SETI Institute's and Unistellar’s Dr. Franck Marchis said, “We’re excited to bring Unistellar’s technology to Malliouhana. Connecting to the expansive universe above the island deeply enhances any experience and contributes to the idea of citizen science in astronomy.”

Malliouhana is deeply interested in investing in Anguilla’s cultural sustainability and growing and fostering the community. The resort directly supports sailing as the sponsor of Light & Peace, one of the island’s racing fleet boats. This new program further demonstrates Malliouhana’s commitment to the island’s heritage and future.

Laura Rose, Storey Hotel Management Group Co-Founder and Managing Director said, “Following the success of our ‘Journey to the Stars’ event at Nanuku Resort Fiji in October 2022, we knew we had to bring this incredible experience to Anguilla and Malliouhana. The combination of NASA content, Unistellar’s cutting-edge technology, and Anguilla’s natural beauty creates a unique opportunity for our guests and the local community to connect to the island in a completely new way.”
