International Women and Girls in Science Day

Tuesday, February 11, will mark the 5th annual International Women and Girls in Science Day. The day recognizes the role women and girls play in science and technology, acknowledges that there is a gender gap among scientific researchers and seeks to foster gender equality in the scientific field.

The 5th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly, held at the United Nations on February 11-12 in New York, NY, will be a gathering of global leaders including women in science, government officials and representatives of international organizations, foundations and the private sector. The assembly will focus on:

  • The role of women in science for improving green and inclusive economy regulatory and policy framework.
  • Promoting innovative green investment in women and girls in science through public-private partnerships.
  • Advancing national-level women in science capacity development for a holistic inclusive and green action.

On Wednesday, February 12, a friend of the SETI Institute Ms. Reema Khan, Founder and CEO of Green Sands Equity will host a high-level panel on Digital Economy and Society: STI for Sustainable Development (STI stands for Science, Technology Innovation).  Dr. Nathalie Cabrol, Director of Carl Sagan Center for Research at the SETI Institute, will be one of the featured speakers.
