Support LaserSETI

LaserSETI Project

All the Sky, All the Time

LaserSETI is entirely privately funded and would not be possible without the support of individuals who believe in the importance of conducting this science properly. With this in mind, a fundamental principle of LaserSETI's design and operations is to prioritize cost, as this increases our chances of achieving our goal of scanning the skies—All the Sky, All the Time. Our focus is on getting the science done, not on leaving an expensive, yet aesthetically pleasing, design on the drawing board.

For example, each LaserSETI instrument includes 15 3D-printed components that take a total of about 14 days to produce, assuming continuous printing. While it would be easier to outsource this work—including part cleaning, printer supplies, maintenance, and repairs—doing it ourselves saves thousands of dollars per instrument.
