Delta Mensid Meteor Shower Repeat

Delta Mensid Meteor Shower Repeat

stars, meteors, and sources

Last year's surprise activity from the Delta Mensid meteor shower on the southern hemisphere was repeated on March 12 and 13, when the shower had a brief outburst. The event was reported as a CBET telegram. In 2020, the shower continued to be active and had good video rates on March 20-22 also (see http://cams.seti.org/FDL/ for dates of 2020-03-20 to 22). If that repeats this year (2021), southern hemisphere observers may be able to spot this unusual shower this weekend. The shower is caused by an unknown Jupiter-family comet.
