Former Board member David Liddle is currently a partner at U.S. Venture Partners. His academic background is in electrical engineering and computer science, and he has been a consulting professor in these fields at Stanford University. Together with Paul Allen, he founded, and was president of, Interval Research Corporation. He was also Chairman of the Board for the Santa Fe Institute in the late 1990s.
In the early 2000s, Liddle joined the SETI Institute’s Board, and soon became involved with presenting ideas from the SETI 2020 Science and Technology Working Group to Paul Allen, whose interest and support eventually led to the antenna array bearing his name. He also encouraged the Institute to seek funding from a broad range of sources, and even went the extra mile by making his home available for important fund-raising events. In addition, Liddle encouraged the Institute to look to other institutions for guidance on how best to grow while keeping finances in good order.
Liddle brought exceptional intellect and a broad range of experience to the Board during his tenure. He was one of those people of whom you could truly say “when he speaks, it pays to listen.”
