Gözen Ertem has been working on “Mineral-Organic Interactions” and “Role of Minerals in the Events Leading to the Origin of Life” since 1969 in several Universities.
She graduated from Istanbul University as “Dipl. Engineer for Chemistry”, received her PhD in 1967, and became Associate Professor in 1972 and Full Professor in 1981 at the same University.
In her long career, she had the opportunity to work as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Professor George W. Brindley’s laboratory at the Pennsylvania State University, as a Research Associate in Professor Cyril Ponnamperuma’s Chemical Evolution Laboratory at the University of Maryland, as a Research Scientist in Professor Armin Weiss’ Laboratory at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany, and in Professor Gerhard Lagaly’s Laboratory at the Universität Kiel, Germany, as a Visiting Professor in Professor James P. Ferris Laboratory at Rensselaaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, as a Guest Scientist in Karlsruhe Forschungszentrum in Germany, Senior Research Scientist at the NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, NRC Senior Fellow at the NASA Ames Research Center, and as a Special Volunteer at the National Institutes of Health.
Since 2013, she has been a Visiting Research Scientist at the University of Maryland.
